One of the biggest mistakes a new company or even a large company can make is to partner with wrong vendors. It can be the single most disastrous thing a person or company can do – and this is especially the case when it comes to courier services in Singapore. This is because sometimes you need a courier to deliver an item such as a tender bid for a project with very tight deadlines. You need the company to respond to your request on time and execute it on time. It’s essential that you work with an actually reliable Singapore local courier company or you would suffer the consequences yourself.
However, how do you identify a good courier company? Here are some tips I have learnt over the months where I made mistakes engaging the wrong courier firms and eventually knowing what makes up a good courier firm and how to find it.
First of all, a good courier company is always responsive. I have approached companies which are basically unresponsive. I have sent them requests only for them to reply me days later. This is ridiculous. Not every delivery is not time sensitive. There are some items which I need to be delivered fast! It’s crucial that I work with a courier firm which is actually responsive to their customers’ feedback as well as requests!! I’m the customer after all, if they couldn’t make it, they should tell me as well so I can find someone else.
Second of all, a courier firm should always accept your job as long as you order within the delivery time frame – e.g. before the cut off times. Most courier companies have a booking cut off time for deliveries to be performed by a certain time or date. A reliable courier company should always accept your offer as long as you book before their delivery cut off times. If they reject your job, make sure they do it early. If they do it last minute once, chances are, they will do it many more times!
Third of all, are they accountable for your delivery or do they simply accept your money and items and never update you? It’s important that they are accountable to you, as most items which are being couriered are of high significance, otherwise you would have simply mailed it out. Keep that in mind – find a courier company which is accountable to you.
Are you exploring a career in Singapore’s courier industry? In this service oriented industry, it’s absolutely essential that you’re customer oriented if you want to survive and then thrive in this industry.
Courier companies usually separate themselves by exceptional customer service support as well as prompt deliveries. This means that as a courier, you need to keep up the good behavior and customer service as your office’s backend administrative people have done so. Additionally, you must be a person who feels a sense of urgency when it comes to your work, as there are many time sensitive deliveries you will have to complete every day.
Working as a delivery man or rather, having a courier job in Singapore is a great flexible option you can have when it comes to building your career.
Many people love working as a freelancer these days, and being a courier is one of the best ways you can go about doing this. Most couriers, however, work hard and take as many jobs as they possibly can as it’s important for them to at least cover the cost of leasing/purchasing their vehicle (whether or not it is a van or a bike). Most couriers work between the hours of 9am to 6pm Mondays through to Fridays, and some even work on Saturdays and Sundays.
It’s very important to be customer oriented or you would constantly be late and find no motivation to be early, and not serve customers with a smile on your face, which is absolutely crucial – otherwise some customers may simply deliver their items by post.
There are many times where I have had to deal with urgent courier deliveries in Singapore.
Have you tried dealing with most Singapore courier companies when you need an urgent delivery? My gosh, nearly all of them are great at giving excuses as to why they cannot fulfill it on the same day. Dang it. I can call them at 4pm and they can reject my order even when Im willing to pay more. I mean, why would you do business if you cannot even accept same day courier services at 4pm? Sometimes I order something at 10am and they can deliver it by 1030am, but they can’t pick up my item at 4pm and deliver by 6pm? It’s ridiculous.
There are thankfully some very rare few companies in Singapore which still provide same day courier deliveries till late in the working day, and an example of such a fine company is PCA Masters – contact them here.
In case you don’t already know, most other courier companies in Singapore close their shop around 3pm. Very few courier companies in Singapore will actually take in courier orders after that time as most of them are unable to fulfill it anyway. It takes a company with good operational and logistics planning to actually execute courier orders throughout the same day. Very few companies also have that manpower required to achieve such results for orders all across Singapore. PCA Masters is one of the rare few companies which are capable of achieving this.
Unless you work with a top Singapore courier company like PCA Masters, you’re going to be vastly disappointed if you need urgent deliveries or last minute or even evening orders – because most companies have either closed, stopped accepting new same day job offers or perhaps even give you some lame excuse.
